One hour...
When the Lord Jesus Christ served as the Son of Man on earth, in His last days, asked His disciple Peter, “Were you not able to keep watch with Me for one hour? Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak” (Matthew 26:40,41). What is the reason for asking the disciples to stay awake and pray for one hour? What temptation did Peter face? What temptations came to other disciples? Why do God's children need to stay awake and pray for an hour every day? A little more detail can be found in the light of the Holy Scripture in this prophetic message. If this message is a blessing for you, raise your hands and give all glory to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Pray two minutes for this Prophetic Words Ministry.
God's children or servants cannot be touched or tested by the devil without heavenly permission. This is the spiritual law. So the tempter devil went to the Lord for asking permission to test His disciples. He wants to refine the disciples and separate the chaff found within them in order to use them for His plan, similar to sifting the wheat and picking up the chaff hidden within it.
He didn't say against the devil, “How will you test my disciples? Don't tempt them." But He granted permission, saying, "Test them and see." Yet Jesus prayed to God the Father that peter's faith should not fail.
Because the Lord God has granted permission, Peter and the other disciples will undoubtedly be tempted. However, as Jesus prayed for Peter's faith to not fail, he would triumph easily at first and strengthen the other disciples. The devil will then be defeated by all of them. This is the plan of the Almighty God. (Luke 22: 31,32)
When Jesus told this plan to peter, He said zealously in the flesh, "Lord, I am ready to go to prison with you, and even to die with you; No matter whoever stops me, I will not deny you." For that, Jesus said, “I tell you, Peter, the rooster will not crow this day, until you deny three times that you know me.” (Luke 22:33,34)
That is, the devil asks God's permission to tempt Peter and the other disciples. The Lord God also has given permission. He foretold when the temptation would take place and what Peter would do during the trial. He also revealed that Peter would fail in the temptation and deny three times. Even ordinary prophets' prophecies would undoubtedly come true. This is a prophecy uttered by the Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, the temptation will surely come for Peter. He will fail at it. There is no little doubt in that.
Afterward, He went to the Mount of Olives as usual and said to His disciples, “Pray that you will not fall into temptation", and then He also went to pray. After praying, He returned to the place where His disciples were. When He saw that they were asleep, He said to them, “Why are you sleeping? Rise and pray that you may not enter into temptation.” At this time only, He asked Peter, “Couldn’t you watch with me even one hour?"
That is, the temptation is sure to come to the disciples because the Lord God has allowed the temptation of the devil. He advised them to pray for escape from that temptation. Because Jesus prophesied that he would deny, he would most certainly deny. But God, who provides a way to escape temptation, told him to stay awake and pray for at least an hour so that he would not be tempted. (1 Corinthians 10:13)
But Peter and the other disciples ignored the counsel and slept soundly for about an hour without praying. Thus, they were caught in the temptation brought by the devil. They ran away naked by leaving the Lord Jesus Christ (Mark 14:52). Early in the morning, Peter was also tempted and denied the Lord Jesus Christ three times.
The secret that the Holy Spirit teaches us from this prophetic message is that the enemy devil will fight daily to tempt the children of God every minute. The devil accuses in God's presence and asks for permission to do so. Sometimes the Heavenly God may have given permission for the sake of righteousness. Yet He will reveal the trials that are coming to us and the days that will come to us through revelations, visions, and dreams.
The great prophets may have prophesied that we would fail in that temptation. In any case, even if we wait at least an hour every day to pray, we will not fall into that trap. Thus vain struggles will not come. The devil will not win. That means we also won't deny.
If an hour of prayer can overcome the trial that Heavenly God has allowed for the sake of righteousness, how much more can we overcome the magical attacks and sorcery that witches, sorcerers, and fortune-tellers make against us.
So the faithful children of God, instead of crying out, "Someone has cast a spell on me; someone has done a sorcery," let us sit in the presence of God for an hour to pray. We will overcome the temptations of the devil by prayer in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. All glory be to the Triune God. Amen.
